Let the freak out begin!

Well, I got past Christmas, which was very nice btw. So now I can focus all my freaking out energy on the upcoming trip to Hawaii.

I got my swimsuit(thanks Robin) Now I just need to get the rest of it figured out. Mostly the money. We're not exactly living the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous here.

Plus what to wear. I know most of it is super casual, but we have a reception dinner and a dinner cruise to go on. I'm thinking maybe my nice black capris and a nice shirt with some black sandals for me and nice pants and shirt for Husband for the dinner cruise. The reception is the first night we get there and after 8 hours on a plane I just can't imagine we will care what we are wearing!

Anyway, I had a mini freak out yesterday and went and bought me some shorts to wear with my swim suit and Husband some new tennis shoes to wear on the beach. I worry about stupid stuff too. Do we need to take our own beach towels? Can we take the hotels towels out on the beach? Is stuff way over priced there? Is traffic outrageous? We've thought about renting a car but Husband gets way stressed out driving in bad traffic. Keep in mind we live in hicksville USA population around 3,000.

I'm sure I'll be boring you with this trip til it happens. We leave January 22nd! YIKES.

How to make sure you are wide awake in the morning

(Step 1 must be completed the day before)
1. Buy a pregnancy test, smuggle in the house.
*reason to smuggle, husband would have a heart attack, you don't feel like raising kids on your own)
2. Have a sleepless night worrying if it will be positive *extra stress realizing you have cancelled your maternity coverage on your insurance
3. Hold pee till you think you will pee the bed waiting for husband to leave for work
4. Finally get to pee on stick
5. Watch windows for change
6. See the -- in the circle and the I in the square
7. Mis-read the results as positive.
8. Instantly freak the hell out, shaking, nauseous, feeling faint
9. Realize you had read the control window's I as a positive when it's actually negative
10. Wonder if 6:30 a.m. is too early for a strong drink

There! 10 easy steps for being wide awake first thing in the morning.

Robin, I love you!!

I found a suit at Land's End!! It even came in my size and was ON SALE!! My two favorite words. I got a black tankini. Couldn't decide between black or blue but went with black. The black will contrast nicely with my lily white skin don't you think?

I'm so glad to get that out of the way! Now it's just on to panic about what to wear, what to pack and what we are allowed to take on the plane.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion Robin.

Swimsuit in December

Have you ever tried to find a swimsuit in December? It's not easy! I'm looking for a new suit since we go to Hawaii in about a month. (insert freaking out sounds here) and my old suit is kind of worn out. I'm looking online but am too cheap to pay $60 for a suit. A friend of mine insists I need a tankini since it's easier to deal with if you have to go pee while you are wearing it. I can see her point but I'm FAT! Do I really need to wear a tankini? She says they cover you really well and no one would notice but I'm still a little leary.

But then I think heck, I'll never see those people again so why worry. But then I remember we are going with a group. I'll be seeing some of them again and I don't want to be "that fat lady" they all talk about at the next trip.

Now if I can just convince husband he will be looked at if he DOESN'T wear shorts and possible sandals on the beach. He will be "that guy" if he wears his usual jeans and boots right? LOL

Sigh. It's too much to think about now. I'll just have to make myself NOT think about it til after Christmas.

I think I got sexually harassed!

I called a customer a few days ago to remind him of a deadline that was approaching and he needed to fill out some paperwork before then. He complimented me on being so efficient and asked me if I wanted to be his personal secreatary. I asked how much it paid. He said "well all my other ones just got to sleep with me"! Well, I have to think about that one!!

Of course all this was said joking around and we both knew it, but I got to thinking some people would have really freaked out about that comment.

I hate it when people close up shop

I'm so bummed that Karen from The Naked Ovary closed her blog. :( I loved reading about her and now her sweet little girl. I keep clicking the link hoping that she's changed her mind.

Bummer.

My girl and Santa

Here is sister and Santa. Brother was "too shy" to see Santa. LOL

She told Santa she wants a kit for making gingerbread houses!?!?? What the heck is that all about?

Brother wants a combine with a "hauger", which is his way of saying auger and a gun.

Ok Robin and Terri

You girls got me wondering. How do I check my stats on my blog? I NEED to know how to do this.

I had a Christmas nightmare last night. Nothing to do with stats, but I'm to lazy to start a new post.

I have been storing most of the kids Christmas presents at work so I don't have to worry about them finding them. I dreamt last night that it was Christmas morning and we were opening gifts. I realized I had left most of the gifts at work! I was running around the house trying to keep them distracted while I figured out how to sneak out of the house and go to the office to get the gifts. None of them were wrapped, so I needed to get that done too.

I dreamt that stupid dream all night!

Tomorrow is my mom's side of the family (my aunts and uncles) Christmas party at mom's. Of course we have a thousand other things to do that day too. Then to top it all off Sister got an invitation to her best friends birthday party for that day, at the same time as my mom's party! UGH. She's never missed one of his parties but I told her this morning....family comes first. I hope that's the right thing to do. Parenting is hard, I don't know what the hell I'm doing 90% of the time.

Tomorrow morning is the Lowe's kids clinic where the kids get to build stuff. They love it and it's so cute to see all the little kids banging away with their hammers! It's free too!

Then in the early afternoon our town has a kids shopping day. You take your kids, send money and the kids get to shop. Parents aren't allowed in the back where the gifts are only kids and some helper volunteers. Then they wrap the presents before the kids leave. It's so fun since that's one of the few presents that I don't know what's in it. And Sis has fun too.

And just to brighten your weekend here's another Calvin & Hobbs for ya!

Things that make me Thankful

Sister brought this home from school, it's a paper she's written on what makes her Thankful. She's 8 and in 3rd grade. I love this girl!

Turkey is a beautiful feast.
Happy to see everybody.
Autumn is a time of beauty.
Nuts are what squirrles store.
Kibble is good for dogs.
Squirrels store nuts in the ground.
Give nice things.
Ice is coming close.
Vilets are not coming up.
Igloos are hard to make.
Nibble on turkey.
Go have fun!

I tried to type it just like she wrote it, so any spelling errors are hers, not mine! Yep,that's right, all her!

Isn't this just the best thing you've read?

WINTER BLAST 2006

Did you read that in a TV announcer's voice, you know the deep, serious voice? That's what we've got going on here today.

It's been snowing all day and we've had about 8 inches of snow so far, they are calling for up to 13! WOW! It hasn't snowed like that here for YEARS, more than 10 years I'd bet. We even had a blizzard warning today, I think we might even still be in the warning.

2 days ago I had the air conditioner on at work and today it's 15 degrees with a wind chill of 0! Crazy I tell's ya!

No school or work today yippee! But it's been too cold and windy to go outside. Husband has been to the barn to feed the cat. I told him he needed to tie a rope from the house to the barn so he wouldn't get lost like Pa Ingalls. He disagreed. It's not that bad, really. Of course I've been inside all day except for a quick trip to the grocery store before it started snowing.

That's the current update for WINTER BLAST 2006, we'll keep you updated.

My little boy and other weekend stuff

We got brother a twin size bed this weekend! I can't belive he's out of his crib, where did the time go? Yes, I know he's 3 and should probably have been out of his crib long ago, but hey, he's my baby, you know? He loves his bed though. We put some John Deere stickers on the headboard. He's all about John Deere you know.

He slept all night Saturday night but MAN! Was he grumpy the next day, I guess he didn't sleep very well or something. He cried all through Sunday school and a lot after church. He took a 2 hour nap when we got home!

We got to see an old friend this weekend. He was down to visit family for Thanksgiving so he stopped by the house. It was good to see him, haven't seen him for a few years. We were all such good friend in high school. He brought beer, took husband out and got him a little buzzed, then they came back to the house and he got to see the kids. Of course sis knocked over his can of beer on the new carpet!! Yikes! All was well, no stain.

We had a great Thanksgiving holiday! It went by too fast though the 4 days just flew by and now it's back to work. Blah!

I'm just a girl who can't say no

I can't say no. I am always the one who gets volunteered to do stuff at church.
Need someone to organize the Christmas float for the parade? Sure!
Need someone to organize the undie, sock, hat and glove drive? Sure!
Need someone to get the Angels from the Angel tree? Sure!
Need someone to teach sunday school? Sure!
Need someone to figure out a Christmas program for said Sunday Schoolers? Sure!

Why can't I say no? Or at least say, can't you find someone else to at least ASK before asking me? But I don't. I say Yes.

Must work on that. I always feel guilty when I say or even think of saying no. Must say NO to guilt.

High School Sports

My nephew plays basketball this year, he's a freshman so it's his first year of high school sports. The team has been notified by the coach they will practice over the Christmas break and if they miss they have to run laps.

Okie dokie. Yet another reason I hate high school sports. My sis is divorced, her ex (my nephews dad) lives about 3 maybe 4 hours away. Of course her two boys are going to spend time with their dad over Christmas! But now the one that is in high school will have to run laps for missing practice. for spending time with his dad.

Like the whole world will cease to function if the team doesn't practice. Isn't that what the Christmas/Holiday season is all about? Family? UGH!

Sometimes I really hope my kids don't want to play sports in high school. The coaches at our school are all such jerks!

Weekend wrap-up

Let's see, what did we do this weekend? Friday night the kids and I went to my nephew's basketball game. It was so!exciting! Yikes! It was 7 & 8th grade boys plus some 5 & 6th graders thrown in to make enough players for a team. They played a school bigger than our school but we WON!! We were in a tournament so they played again Saturday (we had to miss that game, more on that later) They ended up playing the same team again and we won by ONE POINT!!!! Our boys got 3rd place in the tournament! We haven't placed in a tournament in I don't know how long. Yay for them!

The Happy Town family got a family picture taken Saturday which is why we missed the game. I think the picture will be awful mostly because I'm in it. UGH! I hate looking at pictures of myself. I'm so ugly.

After the pictures sister wanted to go to the lake and have an adventure, so we did. We drove out to the lake and hiked around the shore, over rocks, through the woods. Brother was a pirate...he found a pirate sword. Ok, so maybe it was just a tree branch but not to a 3 year old! ARGH! LOL

Sister had on a dress and tights. Not exactly hiking clothes, but she didn't let that stop her. The only thing that stopped her was the cockleburrs that kept sticking to her tight. I was the official cockleburr picker offer of the day.

My silly girl kept track and she counted 23 dead fish. Nice. They were all big ones too? We saw deer, racoon , opossum, some kind of big cat and lots of bird tracks. Luckily only tracks. I was looking around imagining some big cat sitting up in the tree waiting to pounce on us ala Little House on the Prairie.

We could also see some foundations of where the houses used to be before they flooded them to make the lake.

Oh and Saturday morning we went to Lowes and sister made a napkin holder. And she gave her mom a bloody thumb when she got a little crazy with the hammer. Dang, it HURT!

Sunday was church, Wal-mart, grandmas and then granny & papa's house.

Then I stayed up too late watching football. It was so nice and quiet in the living room by myself. Everyone else was in bed so I just stayed up and enjoyed the solitude.

And that's your weekend wrap up, back to you Kent!

Aloha Baby!

In about Holy Crap!! about 2 months husband and I will be going to Hawaii. It's a work related trip so we can't take the kids which is a bummer, but I'm still excited to be going!

I've been telling myself we have tons of time before we go but actually it's not that far off is it?

I need to get our clothing choices lined out as I'm sure we will need new clothes by then. Neither one of us dresses up ever so I'll have to get us some new clothes for the fancy stuff we have to do.

Somedays I think I'd rather just stay home, then I think I'm crazy! How many people get a chance for a free trip to Hawaii? All we need to take is spending money, and how much money do you need to take to Hawaii anyway? Is American money good in Hawaii or do you have to buy special Aloha bucks or something?

Feeling a little happier in Happy Town

I got a sweet text message from husband today and it really brightened up my mood. I've been feeling a little down the last day or two. Isn't it funny how one simple thing can just change your mood entirely?

Not so funny when one little thing changes it from happy to bitch though! Not that I'm ever bitchy. No. Of course not (just don't ask husband and kids!) I am sweetness and light all the time. See that glow? It's not the sunset, it's my halo shining.

Monday blah blah blah

Listening to the radio I starting thinking of the weird lyrics that are on some songs. I listen to mostly country so there are some weird ones LOL! Tim McGraw seems to have some of the weirdest.

"She sits quietly there, like water in a jar" ???????? What is that? Then it goes on "she's my dreaming tree" "she's my kind or rain, like love from a drunken sky" Maybe I'm just a dumb hick, but what does that mean?????!!!!!!

Ok, now on to best lyrics....

Cross Canadian Ragweed! I love them. I need some more of their music, hmmmmm, off it add to my Christmas list!

"she begged me not to do it, said her runnin days are through. I said I forgive you as the bullet casing flew"

Love them! Did I already say that? I'm going to have to dig out my cd at lunch.

I'm tired today. I didn't sleep too well last night as I slept on the couch. Don't ask.

Anyway, it's back to work today, yippee! I'm in a slightly better mood now than I was this morning which is good I guess.

My Colts beat the hated Patriots last night so it's not all bad! Go Peyton, come on Peyton, get it togehter Peyton. When we saw the Colts play, there was a lady sitting behind us that kept yelling that during the game. Come on lady, we're a quater of a mile away from the field.....PEYTON CAN'T HEAR YOU!

Soccer season is over

Well, sister played her final two soccer games Saturday. She had so much fun playing. This was her first year to play and I'm kicking myself for not signing her up years earlier. She can play with the same team in the spring then she has to move up to 9 year olds age group. That means she will be playing on the BIG field!

I think they only won 1 game this year but oh well! it was fun and they don't "officially" keep score at this age group. Of course ask any kid and they know the score.

After the game we drove out to the lake to look at the fall foliage, but last weekend was the peak time. It was still pretty this weekend but just not the same. Oh well, at least we got to see some and we drove across the dam which the kids thought was pretty cool.

Are you ready for some football?

Tonight is the Colt vs. Patriots game. I want the Colts to win so bad. I hate the Patriots so much. We watched the Colts play a couple of years ago at Indy, it was awesome! I'd love to go back, but it's too far to drive and too expensive to fly. We got a free trip from my work is the only reason we went.

I'll be all over the house tonight watching the game. I get so nervous watching the Colts play, dh thinks I'm a nut! I think I like football more than he does.

My ugly mug

Well, there I am in all my glory. I decided to try out a picture of myself over to the right. What do you think? I HATE looking at pictures of myself. I guess I don't imagine I really look like that. Anyway, there I am.....for now. I might get tired of looking at me and take it down sometime. Plus it looks kind of big to me but I don't know how to make it smaller. So there it is.

I think we watch too much TV

A few days ago me and the kids were sitting in the drive-thru. We were waiting for our receipt and brother says "lets go", I say we will as soon as he gives us our deal (meaning receipt). Brother says "what deal? Deal or no deal?" LOL!

Is it bad when your just turned 3 year old knows Deal or No Deal *paranoid*

Have you ever had a good bra?

I haven't. I thought I had finally achieved bra nirvana, but no, the honeymoon is over. I'd bought a great bra. It fit good, held my sagging girls up proud and high.

I don't know what happened but all of a sudden it doesn't fit anymore. I'll be sitting at work minding my own business when all of a sudden......my nip is hanging half out!? Always my left if you must know.

Maybe my big beautiful melons aren't so perfect anymore? *sob*

I bought another bra, same brand, same size, but a different color. It fits like crap. (I'm wearing it today in case you wondered what brought on this lovely post)

Christmas Shopping

I've started my Christmas shopping already. I've tried this in the past and it fails terribly. I start early buying a few things here and there for the kids, then by the time Christmas rolls around I've ended up buying them way more than normal.

Not this year! I'm going to stick to my guns. Yeah right. I keep coming up with more stuff I think they would like. The plus side is I've bought several things on sale, so not as much money spent so far.

Now...any ideas for my parents and inlaws?

Halloween

We took the kids trick or treating last night. Sis was a Hula girl, complete with grass skirt and coconut bra. Brother was Spiderman. He had a mask but wouldn't keep it on, we did manage to take a picture but that's about it. Sis wouldn't hula for anybody and lots of people asked her to.

The kids got lots of candy but it seems like people were not giving out the chocolate like usual. Come on people! I need chocolate. I tried to tell the kids that everything my parents gave them I got and everyting husbands mom gave them he got. They didn't go for that at all. Oh well, maybe I can find some candy on cleareance toay.

First

Ok, this is it. I finally took the advice of my internet friend and started a blog. We'll see how it goes I guess.

I'm just a working mom of two trying to hold it all together. Married for 15 years, mom of and 8 year old daughter and 3 year old son. Wife to a 35 year old mostly great guy.
