Just happened on this blog, it's worlds away on the last few (those were about people's churches, or the happy sickly sweet ones about their kids...)
Try switching bedrooms with the little ones.... repaint and rearrange everything. It won't do much for the pain, (that fades later), but at least you won't be reminded quite so much every time you go in there.
